The Future Forward Fund provides an opportunity to access resources from trusted organizations who are committed to the success of black-owned businesses and expanding greater Birmingham’s small business ecosystem. The fourth grant cycle is made possible through the Penny Foundation’s partnership with Verizon.

Organizations who apply must have a dedicated checking account for the business. The purpose of this grant is to help with loss of income due to business disruptions for public facing organizations. It will also help applicants generate additional revenue, business model pivots, and more.

Grants are to be used for business needs and operations. Rewards will be dispensed as follows:

Businesses will be awarded in two categories, which include businesses established for one to five years, and businesses established for more than five years.

Applicants will have the chance to share their story via written or video submission. To apply, organizations will register their business and complete a business checklist. See application button below.
